Foothills Academy Parent Association

Mission

The mission of the Foothills Academy Parent Association (FAPA) is to strengthen the Foothills parent community by assisting in the nurturing of trusting relationships among the parents for their benefit and that of the students and the school.

Goals

  • The Association will promote a spirit of welcome, inclusion, and fun with all Foothills parents
  • The Association will provide information, in collaboration with staff and faculty, to promote understanding about the Foothills Academy curriculum and strategies.
  • The Association will facilitate adult educational events offered by Foothills parents and/or outside professionals, through seminars, written and video resources, and ongoing opportunities for formal and informal contact among parents.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Parent Association Steering Team—This group of parents is responsible for implementing the Association's mission and goals.
  • Parent Association Classroom Coordinators—Two parent coordinators from each grade level strive to:
    • Assist the Steering Team in implementation of the Association's mission and goals of building and supporting the parent community.
    • Conduct and encourage parent gatherings at each particular class level.
  • Parent Association Activities—The following activities, under the leadership of one or more Steering Team members or Classroom Representatives, provide opportunities for parent volunteers to help implement the Parent Association goals:
    • Social gatherings of parents from the various grade levels under the leadership of the Classroom Coordinators.
    • Social/Educational programs implemented by parents for the entire parent community, or segments of the community, to gather for fun and/or educational events.
    • Research of educational/informational materials concerning various parenting and family issues, and dissemination of the materials through a variety of media.
    • Support of volunteerism by encouraging individual parents to contact the Foothills Volunteer Coordinator, Development Director, or other staff members to pursue volunteer opportunities in all area of the school: classroom, office, specials, or development.

Vision Statement

Foothills Academy is built on the solid foundation of caring relationships among students, staff and parents, and the pursuit of personal excellence. Parents engage in supporting the well-being of the school through their financial support, volunteerism, and in the development of trusting relationships among one another. It is the Parent Association's role to extend an invitation and challenge to the parent community to enjoy one another's company and to share the joys and challenges of parenting.
