Grades 9 - 12

Foothills Academy Upper School, for Ninth-through-Twelfth Graders, is a place

  • where students can find meaning
  • where dreams are discovered, respected, expanded
  • where the connectedness of all things is honored
  • where relationships with adults matter
  • where attention is paid to each individual and his or her place in the community.

Foothills Academy Upper School continues the mission and the work of the Kindergarten through Eighth Grades. The faculty and programs of our college-preparatory Upper School recognize the importance of connecting with students through every means possible. The transforming experiences we seek for our students happen when we guide them to find meaning in their lives and in their learning.

  • We seek to connect students in every way to a wider world.
  • We encourage their questions, their explorations, their ideas.
  • We model organized, well thought-out, reflective, interactive, compassionate and creative ways of thinking and learning.
  • We value originality and creativity.
  • We aspire to do the best job we can and encourage our students to give their best work.
  • We honor the mind, the body, and the spirit of our students, their families, and one another.
  • We let them know that things are not black and white in our world.
  • We understand with them that all things are connected and that this allows for "both/and" thinking.
  • We let them know that we all – students and teachers -- make mistakes and that mistakes are the primary tools of learning.
  • We laugh a lot and enjoy one another.
